bruce richard - another entitled former board member
County Permit Violations and Photos of the clubhouse and pool deck while bruce richard was president of CWL (2014-2022), and other gross neglect of our community and rule infractions. Our community looked like the slums while bruce was in Long Island and did nothing.
FORMER BOARD MEMBERS
3 min read
This is the deplorable condition bruce richard kept our community in for the eight years he controlled the board as president and vice president. Although the above photo of mold on our pool deck kind of sums things up, more are included to prevent him from falsely claiming this is a one-off photo. People were lucky if they didn't get sick from breathing this mold.
His neglect of our community went on for the entire eight years of his authoritarian reign. It is clear that bruce is indignant, lives in denial, doesn't want to be accountable, and is defiant of rules. He attacks me with false accusations because I brought all this (and more) to the attention of the community. The fact is, we deserve better.
Complaining to bruce did absolutely no good because he did what he wanted, and the board went along with whatever he said.
Every year, bruce would leave our community and drive to his primary home in Center Reach, Long Island NY, where he stayed for 5 to 6 months out of every year while he was on the board. During that time, he did not hold any board meetings, and insisted that there would be no board meetings while he was in New York during the spring and summer months. He'd usually leave for NY in April and not return to Coco Wood Lakes until mid to late October every year.
Our Rules (Document 6, Section 3.2c of the Bylaws of CWL specifically states; “To be eligible for Director, candidates must be in residence at Coco Wood Lakes for a period of, at least, (9) nine months per year during their term in office.” His absence from our community for more than 90 days in any given year invalidated his being on the board, but the then board members, his good friends and pals; Jean Legrys, Marianne Regan, Sandy Steinberg, Deborah Urlich, Roger Shaw, did not hold him to that rule. They let him slide every year without saying a word. They were all knowingly complicit to bruce's violations of rules and neglect of our community and failed to act in the better interest of the community.
Below is the violation letter sent to the association while bruce was board president (which bruce adamantly denied to the community was issued) and an excerpt from the building inspectors records of his visits and warnings.
